Outdoors with a Sakura watercolor box and water brushes, a wee block of hot press watercolor paper, and a Ninkasi Total Domination IPA = a lovely summer evening.

Toys: Rude Maggot Figurine

I tried out a variation of Rude Maggot in clay this weekend. Slopping along in purge fluid, and such fierce bristles!

Misc. Sketches

Oddly enough, sometimes I actually get
project ideas from flailing about in sketchbooks. This may not be one of those weeks. Fun,though-.

Toys: Maggot Paratrooper

PARATROOPER MAGGOT!
Why wait to fly until eclosion and your adult stage? Join the Airborne Maggot Corps!

BITY's PlatSil 73-20 Poured.
The next step is to cast them in resin. I'll be using BITY's EasyFlo 60 with PolyColor pigment.
I've found a source for parachutes, so the Airborne Maggot Corps will soon be operational.

Toys: The Maggot King of Tarf and Rude Maggot!

    ©2014 Montgomery J. Nelson

Meet Rude Maggot and The Maggot King of Tarf!
I've been thinking about this pair of toy figures for a long time. After I model them in clay I will cast them in resin.

       ©2014 Montgomery J. Nelson

These larval friends will be sculpted from sulphur-free Roma Plastilia. Sulphur would cause trouble in the mold-making process. I plan to use Plat-Sil 73-20 for the molds and I'm going to make the toys from EasyFlo 60 resin.
The Maggot King of Tarf will be gold, as any larval Regent should be! I'll be using Pearl Ex Aztec Gold pigment in the resin for that effect.
Rude Maggot is a dark character and I'm going to be using BITY bronze powder in his resin. He's got a lovely purge fluid puddle at his base, and I'm either going to paint the bases or do them separately in dark red Apoxie Sculpt.

An idea for a gift drawn in 53 Paper on my Ipad. I thought I would experiment at 1/2 scale.

Cutting-out the plant area that will hold the lovely manscaped verge.
I think it'll do fine...now I'll double the size, and scuplt it in red clay.
