Chrysomya Defeats Phaenicia At The Battle of Tarf Thorax
Acrylic paint on Gessobord, 9"x12"

I got the idea for this painting during a visit to the "Body Farm" several years ago. We watched Chrysomya larvae preying on other larvae. It occurred to me that with legions of maggots at work and war, that something epic was going on. I imagined a species of neo-classical painting would work nicely. A depiction of two maggots engaged in battle, the battle of Tarf Thorax! Tarf...TARF... Tennessee Anthrolopological Research Facility.

Remember the "Planking" Fad circa 2010? I imagined our toddler dipteran friends might like to join in- even those larvae who'd been collected as evidence for the forensic entomologist got in to the act!
