All Debts Paid... A Sketch and a Poem

A

"All Debts Paid. Real and Imagined" Montgomery J. Nelson 2014©

Water-soluble graphite and watercolor paint on water color paper. 9x11"

All debts payed.
Real. And imagined.

It had been an option he'd imagined
for many years.
Whenever his anxiety
weighed him down...

I'm hoping to finish this in the next few years--
maybe get up the courage to submit it (??).

Wabi-Sabi Dala Horse

    ©2014 Montgomery J. Nelson

I like to whittle and carve outdoors when I am able. This wooden Dala horse blank was forgotten on the front steps and some two years later was found in the garden dirt and duff below the steps.
What a lovely wabi-sabi sculpture it became all on it's own!

Alabaster'd Clogs

I'm an alabastard these days. Ja, fer jeez there. It carves like Norwegian butter with my Foredom outfit.

I Saw...

...acrylic PAINT ECHOS on my painting support. I can feel and hear my painterly sufferings in each stroke and smear.

Nordmann

Acrylic painting. 9X12 on acrylic paper.
A study on paper from a woodcarving I did a while back. See post from 9/16/13 for the carving. I love the somewhat creepy style of the Oseberg (et al.) carvings. I'd like to do some more of them, and maybe do an Odin like the one in "The Virgin Spring" / "Jungfrukallan" (1960).

Sculpting an Alabaster Maggot

Foredom tool...

Hammer and chisel...

Lovely white alabaster roughed-out and ready for shaping and detail work.
The scupture I'm working on: a 9" alabaster maggot.
I think that alabaster will capture the beauty of a Calliphorid larva very nicely.

Playing with paint...

Playing with acrylic paint and Catalyst blade before I had to rush off-.

"Edges"

Watercolor paint on card stock 4X4"

I love edges. Edges are where the action's at! Want to see critters? Look at the edges: the edge of the forest where it meets the meadow; the edge of the parkland where it meets the prairie.
