Marionette: Rød demon

I made a rød demon marionette. He is called Kjetil Svarthjerte by those helvetes folk that know him well.

His head, arms, legs, genitals and body shell are made of leather. The body core is Basswood. The joints are Sam Browne buttons. The paint is by Angelus, it’s acrylic made for leather, and fer geez it worked well. The triangular controller is by Czech Marionettes.

Do you have a PanaVise in your shop or studio? Kjetil is sitting on a Model 201 with a Model 308 five pound base in the above photo. When not used as demon seating, I use them daily for painting and assembly tasks. As demonstrated in the photo below, they are quite useful.

Mask Making- Helmet

I’m almost finished with the Blick plaster cloth and Magic-Sculpt mask. The Golden metallic gold paint really glows. This is my first try with the Golden SoFlat Matte acrylic paint and I really like it’s look for this type of project. I’ll be making it a regular in my paint arsenal.

I did the sculpt over a Monster Makers “Full Ed H2.0” armature, and fer geez, I’m pleased with the way the armature worked.

Work In Progress: A Winged Penis Marionette and a Bird Marionette

I started work on a winged-penis marionette, based on a Roman fascinus. The wings and scrotum will be movable to give the puppet “character”. It will be on a wire controller.

I continue to work on the bird marionette. I like how it’s turning out. Legs and paint, and then the rigging of the strings to come.

I built a combo puppet: a finger puppet inside a hand puppet. Or it’s a finger puppet dressed in a body bag?

Marionette

This is Strandmann. He’s a spirit who had for eons flitted about frightfully on the beach. One day it occurred to him that the driftwood that lay all about the strand could be of use to him. He used the driftwood for extremities and a good, strong chin. Now Strandmann is a fine flaneur of the fjords.
